CONCEPTION
Right at the beginning, I knew I wanted Night Fall to be a lengthy work. Its pitch was born out of my desire to see a follow-up to the game inFAMOUS: SECOND SON, and also my disappointment with its story which I felt suffered due to a lack of development time. Through writing fanfiction out of it, I wanted to try my hand at taking old, previously existing characters and mixing them with new ones of my own making.
During this conception and brainstorm phase, I designed a mock-up of a skill-tree and its upgrades in order to best understand the skillset of my original character.
I also imagined a mood-board for her, which then allowed me to experiment with her character design as well as write her character sheet, then draw her in Photoshop.
WRITING
‘Night Fall’ is my attempt to write something more action-oriented with characters that rhyme with the hero genre. Without delving into a parody of itself, I intend to match the writing style with its nature.
Here is an excerpt of the first meeting between one of the two main protagonists and the main antagonist of the story. Their discussion mentions directly for the first time one of the story’s main pillars: how Delsin can take and use others’ power, while our second protagonist can only take and keep. This goes along with my theme of eugenics and search of identity.
