RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
Writing then editing this video essay demanded thorough preparation. I searched for interviews from the design team of the game, quotes from them that I could highlight, other video essays that I could use as inspiration; but I also went to dig into my old music theory classes.
Articles from The Gaming Trend were used as direct sources, as well as Digital Trends, Tech Radar and The Guardian.
WRITING AND EDITING
More than being yet another analysis video on how great Hi-Fi Rush’s gamefeel is, I made the video stand-out with its rapid-fire, rythmic-like editing that’s in harmony with the game it studies. For example, I used split-screens, transitions like comic-book frames, and the video’s
sound effects are on beat with both the background music and my own voice-over.
